Privacy Policy
Effective August 4, 2026. This public policy matches the policy inside Signal Bench version 1.0.0.
Plain-language summary: the Android app works offline, has no account, requests no Internet permission, sends no data, and stores only limited progress state on the device.

Responsible entity, scope, and effective date
Heard County Radio Club Inc. is responsible for Signal Bench on Android. This policy covers version 1.0.0 and is effective August 4, 2026. It describes the app itself, not unrelated websites, radio equipment, FCC systems, ARRL services, or Google Play.

Intended audience and supervision
Signal Bench is intended for older learners and adults studying amateur-radio fundamentals. It is not directed to children under 13. Minors should use equipment, batteries, tools, and antenna systems only with a qualified and authorized adult who controls the activity and the site.

App purpose
The app provides offline concept lessons, fixed practice drills, bench and field checklists, safety boundaries, dated rule summaries, and source citations. It is not a transmitter, receiver, scanner, software-defined-radio controller, license, exam authority, emergency channel, dispatch tool, legal service, or substitute for equipment manuals and current rules.

Data collected or transmitted
The app does not collect or transmit personal data. It has no Internet permission, backend, account, upload, contact form, advertising service, analytics service, telemetry, remote configuration, or cloud synchronization. The publisher receives no app-usage data from the app.

On-device progress state
The app stores only selected module keys, completed fixed-card identifiers, and the current preset-practice stage in Android app-private preferences. This device-only state helps restore progress. It does not include a name, email, callsign, location, message, radio log, incident record, or free-text note.

Sensitive records and free text
Signal Bench provides no field for health information, youth records, emergency incidents, precise station locations, contacts, callsigns, membership details, or free-text logs. Do not attempt to use screenshots or device modifications to turn the app into a sensitive record system.

Permissions and device capabilities
The app requests no Internet, location, microphone, camera, Bluetooth, nearby-device, contacts, call-log, phone, notification, or broad-storage permission. It does not control or discover radio hardware. Android may provide ordinary operating-system functions needed to display the local app.

Accounts and account deletion
There is no registration, login, profile, roster, server account, or server copy. Account deletion is therefore not applicable. The local Reset and delete action removes app preferences; clearing app storage or uninstalling also removes them.

Ads, analytics, tracking, and SDKs
The app contains no ads, ad identifier access, analytics, attribution, tracking, crash-reporting service, social SDK, payment SDK, or third-party network SDK. Its Android and Jetpack Compose libraries render the offline interface and do not create an app backend.

Sharing, sale, and third parties
Because the app does not receive or transmit user data, it does not sell, rent, disclose, or share app user data with the publisher, advertisers, data brokers, government bodies, ARRL, FCC, IRS, or other third parties.

Sources, links, and network behavior
Source Drawer displays plain-text reference addresses for transparency. The app does not open them, fetch content, verify them live, or send data to them. A user may independently visit an official source outside the app on a connected device, subject to that service's own policy.

Retention
Device-only progress remains until the user resets it, clears app storage, or uninstalls the app. The publisher has no server retention because the app sends no data. A system-level screenshot or device backup made outside the app is controlled by the user and operating system.

Deletion, backup, restore, and transfer
Reset and delete clears local completion and practice state. Android backup and device-transfer extraction are disabled for this app, and the app provides no export. The publisher cannot remotely delete or recover state because it never receives a copy.

Security and limits
App-private storage and the Android application sandbox limit ordinary access to local state, and release builds are signed. No device or software is perfectly secure. Protect the device with current system updates and screen security; do not store sensitive information in screenshots or modified copies of the app.

Children and safeguarding
The app does not create public profiles, chat, direct messages, location sharing, attendance, or adult-to-child communication. A guardian or qualified adult remains responsible for supervision, equipment access, site permission, and age-appropriate use. The app is not a child-safety monitoring service.

Safety, emergency, and professional limitations
Safety cards are general educational prompts, not electrical, engineering, RF-exposure, legal, medical, emergency, or professional advice. The app cannot call for help or monitor alerts. Leave unsafe conditions and use established emergency services. Verify current FCC rules, manuals, codes, and qualified guidance before operation.

Policy changes and user choices
A future version may revise this policy if app behavior changes. The effective date and release notes should identify material changes. Users may decline to use the app, keep progress unmarked, reset local state at any time, clear app storage, or uninstall it.
